2019 New Year Key Verse Testimony
James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Dear heavenly Father, I am thankful being reminded of how God has blessed us in the year 2019. I pray that God may have mercy on me to find out clear direction for the new year 2020. May God bless us to be like Jesus full of compassion and love that never end. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
In 2019, my new year key verses were Psalm 1:1-2, “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.
Looking back, I come to realize that it was not easy in a busy daily life withtout faithfulness and love for God's words. I also realize that I have sought for joy and satisfaction in a worldly news and gossips through online instead of devoting myself to the prayer in repentant heart and the Bible.
So, whenever preparing the message, I could almost find a lack of spirituality, holiness and wisdom inside me. I remember that I pretended to be spiritual or joyful sometimes without full of the power of the Spirit and inner plain conviction toward God's love and direction. Even though I searched for much information to grasp the meaning of the passage every single time, I realize that I better find what it means through earnest prayer and the guidance of the Spirit in the text. I pray that God may have mercy on me to take a deep root in the Word of God in the new year and live out a prayerful life, so that I may lack nothing to serve God and people.
Through the journey in Switzerland, I could learn from missioanry Josua and Maria Seo and saw that they lived a simple life and did focus on prayer and the word of God only. Though them, once again, I came to decide to devote myself to God's words and early morning prayer. God is only who I trust and rely on right now in all I do. I came to repent of my spiritual laziness and carefree lifestyle. May God have mercy on me to make every effort to come near to God every single day.
In the early morning Jesus went off to the solitary place and prayed to God. Jesus was busy healing people with many diseases, preaching, and teaching the secret of the Kingdom of God everyday. 24 hours a day and 7 days a week might have not been enough to Him. Yet, no matter what, Jesus prayed to God earnestly before carrying on every important things or moment of decision. On top of it, Jesus prayed to God to know God's will and receive the power to carry on His Messianic ministry. Without right direction, we can not move forward in full. What I need to do is bend my knees before God and ask for His mercy and direction and power from above whatever I do. I have known some people whom I have been praying for. I have no idea how to lead them to God for their salvation although I want it in deed. Before all kinds of matters and issues, what I can do is just ask God.
In James 1:5 we read, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Last year, I realize that in many cases in the workplace, church, and at home, God answered my prayer topics sincerely and helped me to overcome my limitations although I did not deserve. I just pray to God to have mercy on this undeserving sinner, my family members and all church members to overcome daily struggles and reveal God´s glory abundantly in actual life. I come to find out there are a lot of things that I can not handle well wisely, godly and fairly with my mere shallow and small knowledge, life experiences, and poor ability of judgment more and more. That's why I have made not a little mistakes and errors in raising kids, dealing with household matters, building up human relationship in a workplace and school and so on. Naturally, I came to pick up James 1:5 to ask God who is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-sufficient, all-wise, all-loving, all good, and all of everything for help and wisdom though prayer to overcome all life challenges to come in the new year.
Looking back the last year that had passed so fast and filled with so many life issues and challenges and unexpected things, at the beginning of the new year, I feel little anxious and worrying like a soldier going to war more than joy and excitement. Yet, I realize what I have to do is lay down my human thoughts and ideas and in all my ways submit to God. God then will make my paths straight. (Proverbs 3:6) May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus as we come near to God with thanksgiving by prayer and petition in every situation. (Ph 4:6-7) I pray that God may have mercy on me and bless us richly in the year 2020.
